The Research and Development Cell has been established at APSACS Sectt to continuously plan, research and design new programmes and develop new initiatives for improved quality of education in Army Public Schools and Colleges and ensure their timely implementation. Staying competitive with the emerging and growing trends in education is the need of the hour. It is essential to refine the existing practices, analyze new developments and evaluate the impact of change. All programmes will be aligned with the mission of APSACS.
An important programme launched by the Research and Development Cell is the Career Counselling Programme. With the wide range of opportunities in the field of education and incredibly increasing disciplines and changing demands in the 21 st century global market, the students in Pakistan today are vying to access good university education, both locally and globally. It is important that the students make sound career decisions so that they do not miss out opportunities or make wrong decisions that they regret afterwards. The programme includes Aptitude Tests for the students of class VII, Career Counselling Sessions and one-on-one guidance / mentoring for university placements.
The Career Counselling Programme will enable the students to:
develop self-belief from a greater understanding and recognition of their potential, personal skills and academic strengths
develop an awareness of what career planning entails
develop a clearer vision of their future direction and choice of university for local or International study
As part of the Career Counselling Programme, Orientation Sessions are being held for the students of class X, XI, O Level 3, AS and A2 to familiarize them with the leading universities, local and foreign, disciplines they offer, eligibility criteria for admission, pre-requisite tests, national and international, and the need for building a strong profile. Reps of prestigious universities, both local and foreign, are also invited to provide a brief overview of their respective institutions, general information on admission and financial aid policies.
The Research and Development Cell aims to collaborate and have joint ventures with local and foreign organizations to provide maximum opportunities to the APSACS students to:
participate in International events
become part of exchange programmes like Watershed, YES and STEM
take part in community service through partnership with PRCS, WWF, Green Living Association and other local bodies
organise and participate in Model United Nations (MUN)
In addition, as part of professional development of teachers, APSACS teachers are provided external trainings by accredited trainers to keep them abreast with the latest demands of teaching. At present, the Research and Development Cell is working in collaboration with the British Council, Cultural Affairs (US Embassy), Oxford University Press, Paramount and National Disaster Management Authority.
